pretzel bites

i love these.
after they're cooked, you can make pretty much anything out of these.
adapted from my pinterest board.

pretzel bites

serves: 1-4

ingredients

  • frozen rolls
  • butter
  • various toppings: garlic + parmasan cheese (or shredded mozzarella diced with a knife), just salt, or cinnamon + sugar (about 1 part cinnamon to 6 parts sugar)
  • knife
  • oven
  • casserole dish
  • nonstick spray

directions

  1. let rolls thaw for about 30 minutes.
  2. using a knife, cut rolls in fourths. if the fourths don't look like dough balls, then skip step four.
  3. if the bread feels cold/frozen, thaw in the microwave: heat at 60% power for half a minute.
  4. take a casserole dish and spray with non-stick spray. place dough balls in dish, making sure they don't touch. cover and let sit for about an hour to 1.5 hours, or until the dough has risen to twice its size.
  5. preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  6. fill a small pan about 1/3 full with water. boil that, and then use a slotted spoon to place two or three dough balls in the boiling water for about 15 seconds. place soggy bread onto a clean dishcloth, then put back into the casserole dish.
  7. repeat step 5 with the rest of the bread.
  8. place in oven for about 15 minutes. when you have about a minute left, place butter in a bowl and melt it.
  9. when the bread is done, roll in butter, then sprinkle selected toppings over it. serve warm; enjoy!
